Hagen recorded the album in New York City with Mike Thorne and collaborated with musicians Paul Roessler, Ferdi Karmelk, and Karl Rucker when writing the songs for the album. It marked Hagen’s first release since her departure from the Nina Hagen Band and was also her first album with all songs in English language. Since 2011, the IDGM Labex has undergone expansion and consolidation through the creation of Labex IDGM+. Its main objective was to establish an independent and prominent think tank focused on sustainable development, facilitated through the collaboration of FERDI and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI). The Initiative for Development and Global Governance (IDGM) was launched in 2008 with the support of the French Development Agency (AFD).
